These players will add depth and quality to their respective teams.

Many big moves have been finalized in this year's January transfer window. Usually clubs tend to wait and watch during the winter window, but this year the period was an exceptional one. The most exciting aspect about the January transfer window is the Deadline Day. Many moves were made whereas some failed to come through.

Barcelona failed to offload Ousmane Dembele to an English club, but succeeded in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. On the other hand , in the Premier League, Liverpool failed to sign Fabio Carvalho, whereas Newcastle finally signed Dan Burn.

Let's take a look at the top five transfers that took place on January 2022 Deadline Day.

5. Christian Eriksen (Free Agent to Brentford)

Christian Eriksen finally returns to competitive football, seven months after suffering a cardiac arrest. He had collapsed on the field against Finland last June at Euro 2020.

Since then, Inter Milan had also terminated his contract because of the league rules. However, Brentford secured Eriksen's services on a free transfer on January Deadline Day. He will bring a lot of world-class experience to the club.

The Denmark international has been one of the best playmakers since 2010. Eriksen has also made it into the list of IFFHS Playmakers of the Decade as well.

4. Tanguy Ndombele (Tottenham Hotspur to Olympique Lyonnais)

Tottenham Hotspur have sent Tanguy Ndombele on loan to his former club Olympique Lyon. Lyon are said to be paying £1.2m for Ndombele and also have the option to sign him permanently in the summer of 2022. The French outfit had sold the midfielder to Tottenham Hotspur back in 2019 for £50m.

However, unfortunately, he did not live up to the mark with Spurs because of his bad injury record. Ndombele only played 90 minutes in 21 matches under Jose Mourinho.

The player usually plays as a box-to-box midfielder or an attacking midfielder. The Frenchman's strongest attributes lie in dribbling, composure and passing ability.

3. Dejan Kulusevski (Juventus to Tottenham Hotspur)

Dejan Kulusevski joined Tottenham Hotspur on January Deadline Day from Juventus. The Bianconeri have loaned him to Spurs for a 18-month period. This is the second loan move in his career. Juventus signed the 21-year-old in 2019 and then loaned him to Parma. However, they called him back because of his impressive performances.

Kulusevski has earned regular playing time with Juventus as well. However, an able manager like Antonio Conte can enhance his abilities. He is a very versatile player, but his preferred position is playing on the right side of the midfield.

2. Donny van de Beek (Manchester United to Everton)

Donny van de Beek has joined Everton from Manchester United on loan for the remainder of the season on January Deadline Day 2022. A transfer for the Netherlands international was anticipated because of his lack of playing time. Donny has only started four Premier League matches and one Champions League game in the current season. Overall, he has started 12 games in all competitions.

Van de Beek has only played 68 minutes this season in eight league matches. The talented midfielder can play as a No. 8 or No. 10. Infact, his attacking prowess is his main ability. He had also scored 42 goals in 175 games for Ajax playing as a midfielder.

1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal to FC Barcelona)

Aubameyang's transfer to FC Barcelona caused havoc on January Deadline Day 2022. Earlier, the transfer was called off because Barcelona were unable to sell Dembele and did not have funds to loan the player. However, club president Joan Laporta released a statement saying that "the club will make the move possible." The club secured Aubameyang on a free transfer after Arsenal terminated his contract.

The move is not as bad as it seems because Aubameyang has had a great career. He has only struggled this season. He has been securing double digit goalscoring numbers for nine seasons consecutively and can prove to be a potent force in Xavi's attack.
