These stars are now available to negotiate with other clubs ahead of a move in the summer.

The winter transfer window allows players that are in the final year of their contracts the liberty to negotiate their next destination. These players can secure a pre-agreement with any club, or vice versa, in a deal which secures the player’s signature without having to pay any transfer fee. This is a smart way of conducting business because it enables clubs to save money and strengthen their squad for next season in advance. Keeping the focus on the La Liga, there are some notable names, who are now in the final six months of their contracts.

Here are the five La Liga players who could secure pre-agreement moves in January.

5. Rui SIlva

Granada CF goalkeeper Rui Silva is available for a free transfer in the next summer. The 26-year-old has a long career ahead of him and has invaluable experience from the La Liga, where he has secured six clean sheets in 17 games.

The market value for the Portuguese comes at around €10m, and securing him on a pre-agreement would be smart business. The club and the player are at a crossroads in terms of contract renewal.

4. Luka Modric

Winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2018, Luka Modric’s time in the La Liga seems to be coming to an end. The midfielder is nearing the end of his contract with Real Madrid at the end of the season and the talks of a renewal have not picked up any pace. He could be a part of an exodus of several senior players since Zinedine Zidane aims to bring forth a systemic change in the club.

Reportedly, clubs like Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur have taken an interest in securing the Croatian’s signature. A pre-agreement for Modric would be a masterful move.

3. Lucas Vazquez

Lucas Vazquez has always been a player that has failed to live up to the expectations and fulfill his true potential at Real Madrid. A club where he has spent the last six years in the senior setup, seems to have given up hope on the winger. The Spaniard is heading towards the end of contract with no renewal in sight.

His current market value is around €15m, therefore securing his signature on free based on a pre-agreement would be shrewd business. A move away to a club where Lucas gets regular game time could revive his career.

2. Sergio Ramos

Ramos is one of the longest serving players at Real Madrid

One of the longest servants of the club, Sergio Ramos’ time at Real Madrid CF seems to be nearing its climax. The skipper is out of contract at the end of the season and could finalize his next destination on a pre-agreement in the month of January.

Several top clubs are after him, expectedly, however it is Manchester United who are front runners to land him. He is also rumored to be favoring a lucrative move to Major League Soccer in the USA.

1. Lionel Messi

Messi is rumored to be moving away from Spain at the end of the season

A FC Barcelona legend and one of the best players ever to grace the sport, Lionel Messi is also rumored to be moving away from La Liga at the end of the season. He is adamant on leaving and a contract renewal seems very unlikely.

While his wage demands are the biggest obstacle, there are a few clubs preparing themselves to land the superstar on a free transfer. Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Inter Miami have shown serious interest in signing the Argentine on a free transfer, in what would be one of the smartest deals in history.
