Despite starting just one game for Germany, Undav was comfortably Die Mannschaft’s best player in the tournament. He scored a goal and registered two assists despite playing just 26 minutes against Curacao, also netting a brace against the Ivory Coast.
Ismaila Sarr (Senegal) – 5 goal contributions

- Appearances: 4

The Crystal Palace winger was devastating in the latter stages of the competition for the Lions of Teranga, netting a brace against Norway. He scored and registered an assist in the win against Iraq, and also found the back of the net in the narrow loss to Belgium.
Julian Quinones (Mexico) – 5 goal contributions

- Appearances: 5
- Goals: 4

Possibly the least-known name on this list, Colombian-born Quinones was the hero for co-hosts Mexico. He found the back of the net in the opener against South Africa, before scoring in three successive games against Czechia, Ecuador, and England.
Mikel Oyarzabal (Spain) – 5 goal contributions

Michael Olise (France) – 5 goal contributions

- Appearances: 6
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 5
Currently leading the assist charts in the tournament, Olise has been the chief creative force for France. He has formed a lethal partnership with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele, allowing Les Bleus to steamroll their way to the semi-finals.
Johan Manzambi (Switzerland) – 5 goal contributions

- Appearances: 4
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 2
The breakout star of the ongoing World Cup, Manzambi scored two goals in the win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. He then scored and set up another in the 2-1 victory over Canada. His injury-enforced absence hurt the Swiss as they crashed out against Argentina.
Harry Kane (England) – 7 goal contributions

- Appearances: 6
- Goals: 6
- Assists: 1
England’s talismanic forward has been superb in front of goal in the World Cup, netting braces against Ghana and DR Congo while also scoring against Panama and Mexico. He is currently the Three Lions’ all-time top scorer in the tournament.
Erling Haaland (Norway) – 7 goal contributions

- Appearances: 5
- Goals: 7
- Assists: 0
Haaland found the back of the net in every single match he played in the tournament, except the extra-time loss to England. His goals kept him in the Golden Boot race for a long time and were the main reason Norway progressed to the quarter-finals.
Ousmane Dembele (France) – 7 goal contributions

- Appearances: 6
- Goals: 5
- Assists: 2
After opening his account against Iraq, Dembele added to his goals tally with a superb hat-trick against Norway. He also found the back of the net in the quarter-final win over Morocco, helping Les Bleus reach the last four.
Jude Bellingham (England) – 7 goal contributions

- Appearances: 6
- Goals: 6
- Assists: 1
Bellingham has eclipsed Kane as England’s top scorer in the ongoing World Cup. He scored twice in both the knockout clashes against Mexico and Norway as the Three Lions battled past their challengers to seal a place in the semi-finals.
Lionel Messi (Argentina) – 10 goal contributions

- Appearances: 6
- Goals: 8
- Assists: 2
The all-time top scorer in World Cup history. The all-time top assists provider in World Cup history. 39-year-old Lionel Messi continues to defy his age and has quite rightly cemented himself as one of the best players of all time with his displays for La Albiceleste in North America this year.
Kylian Mbappe (France) – 11 goal contributions

- Appearances: 6
- Goals: 8
- Assists: 3
Kylian Mbappe has been Messi’s primary challenger for the Golden Boot trophy. Both players have scored an incredible eight goals so far, but Mbappe’s assist in the match against Morocco put him just ahead of his Argentine counterpart in the goal contribution chart. If both Les Bleus and La Albiceleste survive the semi-finals, the top two positions in this list could change again.
