Several talented players are in line for moves in the winter transfer window

The January transfer window is in full swing and the clubs across Europe are trying to secure the players of their choice. The winter transfer window provides an excellent opportunity to fill the gaps in the squads and reinforce the weak areas. Similarly, Bundesliga clubs are also looking out for incoming transfers to strengthen their teams for the rest of the season.

The Bundesliga has always been hailed for giving a platform to exceptional young talents. Judging by the reports circling around the league, there could be a lot more youngsters coming in to the competition and several young players changing clubs domestically.

Here are the five possible transfers that could happen in the Bundesliga during the January window.

5. Omar Richards to FC Bayern Munich

FC Bayern Munich are apparently in advanced talks with Reading’s Omar Richards. The left-back plays in the EFL Championship and has caught the eye of the German champions who want to bring the player to the Bundesliga in January. The 22-year-old is also out of contract in the summer, with no renewal in sight.

The Englishman is a fast full-back, along the lines of Alphonso Davies who will shine in the German brand of football. He could be signed in January and loaned back to an English club, which is a realistic plan for FCB who would want the player to develop more.

4. Joshua Zirkzee to Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt are currently pursuing Joshua Zirkee, who is plying his trade at Bayern Munich. The striker has struggled for proper game time under Hansi Flick. The youngster faces stiff competition from Robert Lewandowski and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for the no.9 role and favors a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt.

While the club wants a buy option in the clause for the striker, the Bavarians are reluctant to do so at the moment. A breakthrough in the negotiations is expected in coming days, which will finalize the move.

3. Brandon Williams to Bayer Leverkusen

Brandon Williams has struggled to feature in the Manchester United senior squad after breaking through last year from the academy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hails the youngster as an important player for the future but has not given him much time on the pitch. A fit Axel Tuanzebe has pushed Williams further down the pecking order.

Interestingly, the 20-year-old full-back has a lot of suitors who are willing to take him off MUFC’s hands. While the Red Devils prefer for a loan move for the Englishman, Bayer Leverkusen want an option to buy in the clause. The Bundesliga side faces stiff competition for the defender from several Premier League clubs as well.

2. Dayot Upamecano to FC Bayern Munich

RB Leipzig’s center-back, Dayot Upamecano has been linked to several top clubs for a long time now. The defender has been a consistent performer and has suitors all across Europe. However, Bayern Munich have emerged as the favorite to land the player, given the proximity and the influence.

With the impending departure of David Alaba, and whether the Austrian leaves in January or the summer, Upamecano will be the obvious replacement. The 22-year-old could be part of the Bundesliga transfers pool in January for a cost in the region of €50m.

1. Ozan Kabak to RB Leipzig

FC Schalke 04’s influential young center-back Ozan Kabak has attracted interests from several clubs across Europe. Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have enquired about his availability. The Turkish defender could be off to RB Leipzig, however, only if Bayern Munich decides to move for Upamecano early.

The 20-year-old could move to RB Leipzig for the preference to stay in Germany and play for Jules Nagelsmann, who is hailed for developing young players into superstars. He is valued around €25m in the current market.
