An important advantage of the winter transfer window is that it allows the teams to strengthen the weak spots after the first phase of the campaign. Simiarly, multiple Serie A clubs are said to be completing transfers in the ongoing window.

The Italian top flight league has been very competitive this time around. The competition between AC Milan and Inter has caught everyone’s eye. Just like these two sides, other teams are looking to fulfill their individual goals as well.

Shanghai Shenhua wants to sell El Shaarawy

AS Roma have identified El Shaarawy as their top transfer target during the January window. Apparently, the club tried to bring the Italian winger back to Rome during the summer on a loan with an option to buy, but the lack of time and complicated logistics made the deal fall through. He had signed for Shanghai Shenhua in 2019 for a lucrative deal, at the age of 26, raising a lot of eyebrows.

The club is back in the market for the attacker, however, Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua are now trying to sell the player outrightly instead of seeing him go away on a loan. Having said that, El Shaarawy has been training on his own in Italy for some time now and a permanent move to Roma is imminent.
