It is one of the oldest tournaments in the country and every Italian club strives to lift the trophy. The annual domestic competition sees Italy’s best football clubs clash for the top honours.
Coppa Italia is hailed as one of the high-profile cup competitions in Europe. It attracts huge viewership in the stadiums and on television screens across the globe. Italian football clubs have immense popularity and thus, their involvement in the Italian Cup gives it a lot of neutral attention as well.

5. SSC Napoli/AC Fiorentina - 6
Six teams have won the Coppa Italia more than five times. Among them, two teams to have won it six times are Napoli and Fiorentina. While Napoli has been very successful in the competition in recent times, winning it three times in the last decade, Fiorentina last won it back in 2000-01. 4. Inter Milan - 7
One of the most popular Italian clubs, Inter Milan are a seven-time Coppa Italia champions. The outfit has racked up more wins in recent years and is on the rise in the rankings. The Nerazzurri has won four tournament wins since the turn of the century. Their last win came during the 2010-11 season. Back then, Inter Milan met Palermo in the final which saw Samuel Eto’o score a brace and Diego Milito score the other.
3. SS Lazio - 7
SS Lazio has also won seven Coppa Italia trophies in their history. Their most recent win came during the 2018-19 season under the leadership of manager Simone Inzaghi. In addition, Lazio has won three more editions since the turn of the century, taking their total tally to seven titles. With their 2018-19 win, SS Lazio ended Juventus’s streak of four successive Italian Cup wins.
2. AS Roma - 9
AS Roma is the second most successful team in terms of winning the Coppa Italia. The outfit has won the competition a total of nine times in the past. Despite being a huge success, the form in recent times of the club in this competition is less than impressive. It has been more than a decade since the club last won the tournament.
Their last triumph came in 2007-08 after Luciano Spalletti guided the club to back-to-back Coppa Italia titles. The Yellow and Reds also have two Italian Super Cups and three Italian League titles under their belt.
1. Juventus - 14
Juventus is regarded as the best Italian club and is definitely the most successful when it comes to winning trophies. It leads every other Italian club in terms of winning the Coppa Italia the most times, with 14 triumphs over the years.
The Old Lady is also the reigning champion in the tournament after winning the trophy in 2020-21. Despite their struggles in the league, the club is still favourites to defend their crown this year. The outfit also has 36 Italian league wins and nine Super Cup wins in their extraordinary trophy collection.
