FIFA hands the award to the player who has scored the most spectacular goal of the year.

The Puskas Award, named after Hungary and Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskas is awarded to the player who has seemingly scored the best goal in that calendar year. The goals are usually judged on the basis of their handsomeness.

Since it’s inception in 2009, there have been eleven recipients to this award. The names cover a range of countries and some world-class players. In a few cases, the names aren’t those which we are used to hearing, but their goals are certainly spectacular.
