Van de Ven, Porro & more - Tottenham injury news for Premier League opener vs Brentford
Many Spurs players will be out due to injury.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has issued an update on his squad’s injury status. They prepare to play Brentford in the Premier League this weekend.
Spurs will be trying to turn things around following a poor couple of seasons.
The north London team has performed poorly in the Premier League for the past two years in a row. They undoubtedly showed hints of returning to form under De Zerbi near the conclusion of last season.
Tottenham’s Premier League campaign begins with a trip to Brentford, which will be no easy job following a disappointing 2025-26 season.
Spurs spent heavily during the summer transfer window. There’s no question they’ll be hoping to push into the top half of the Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether it is attainable, but they have certainly given it a fair go in the market.
De Zerbi comments on players’ availability ahead of Brentford clash
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
Speaking to the press ahead of Tottenham’s game against Brentford, De Zerbi announced that Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr, and Mohammed Kudus will all be unavailable for the visitors this weekend.
“Micky is not on the list tomorrow like Pedro Porro. James Maddison is inside [it], Solanke inside, Udogie, Fernandes also. Sarr not because he felt some pain, but nothing big. Kudus is almost ready.”
The Tottenham manager did not offer an update on Dejan Kulusevski. He is highly unlikely to be available after missing the whole preseason.
De Zerbi also declined to offer an update on Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert. Both players are rehabilitating from ACL injuries, so it will be some time before they return to action.
