We want Messi to play, but we cannot influence what tomorrow will look like- Marco Reus
This will be the first time ever that the former Champions League winners will face off.
FC Barcelona named Lionel Messi in their travelling squad to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League opener on Tuesday. The UEFA Forward of the previous season is yet to feature in this season after catering to his injury he suffered in the middle of the August.
Although it is unlikely that the 32-year-old will start the game as it was told he would not be ready in time. But Dortmund captain Marco Reus wants one of the greatest player of all time to field against him.
"We want Messi to play, but we cannot influence what tomorrow will look like. We do not want to talk that much about the opponent. Everyone knows that he is the best, but we play at home and want to win," said Reus in the media interaction before the game.
The German forward wants to test the side against the best opponent there is for offer. Interestingly, this is the first time both the clubs will face each other in UEFA Champions League.
"A difficult game awaits us. We have to be careful and will we have to suffer a lot in the game. We have to be brave and play our game, put ourselves forward and then hope to score goals."

Among the Bundesliga club ranks, will be a former Blaugrana player Paco Alcacer. The in-form striker spent two seasons at Camp Nou and scored 15 goals in 50 games. Talking about Paco facing his former club, Reus said, "I've talked to him a few times. He is calm."

"He is an ice-cold top scorer who does not need many chances, his statistics are outstanding. But even for him there is room for improvement, as with any player."
