The referee told me something disrespectful– Neymar
The Brazilian was shown a yellow card late in the game against Napoli for arguing with the official.
Neymar was one of the shining stars for Paris Saint-Germain during their Champions League game against Napoli. Although he didn’t contribute to the Parisians lone goal, he posed as a constant threat to the opposition defence. However, that wasn’t enough as the game ended in a 1-1 draw between the two sides making the situation in Group C even tighter.
In injury time, PSG had earned a free kick in the attacking half through a foul on Marco Verratti and Neymar stepped up to take it. Furious by the improper distance kept by the Napoli players away from the ball, Neymar motioned to the match referee Bjorn Kuiper indicating the same. Consequently, Kuipers wielded a yellow card towards the Brazilian on account of arguing with the official to which he responded with sarcastic applause. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old took the free kick but was unable to score and subsequently the referee blew the final whistle.
Following the draw, Neymar spoke about how the referee was impolite toward him during the yellow card incident. “The referee told me something he shouldn’t and it was disrespectful.”
Napoli on the other hand, salvaged a point as Lorenzo Insigne scored from the penalty spot after a controversial decision by the referee. The goal cancelled out Juan Bernat’s first-half strike and the two sides settled for a draw.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel stated after the match, “The Napoli penalty came from a situation that was offside in the build-up.”
“Plus we should’ve had a penalty and the result certainly could’ve been different with those decisions,” he added.

Meanwhile, in Serbia, Liverpool suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Red Star Belgrade. The defeat allowed Napoli to surge forward to the top of the Group C, superior to the Merseyside club on goal difference. On the other hand, PSG stand third with 5 points and Red Star with 4 points meaning all four teams are currently capable of qualifying for the next round.
