Liverpool remain the only undefeated team in the Champions League through six games and are firmly on top of the standings. Barcelona, on the other hand, surged into the second spot after holding off a stubborn Dortmund, while Arsenal continued their rise after a sluggish start.

As for the other juggernauts, Manchester City and Real Madrid’s struggles have seen them take a downward turn, while Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid hope to make a strong final push inside the top 8.

With two games left to conclude the first round, we take a deep dive into which teams the oddsmakers consider favorites to win it all in June.

Liverpool remains the team to beat

If there’s one team that every team is scared to face right now, it’s the Reds. They’ve been dominant all season long and hold the top spot both domestically and in Europe.

The departure of Jürgen Klopp after a successful spell at Anfield left many in doubt coming into the season, but new head coach Arne Slot made sure to put all questions to bed, winning all six matches so far in his Champions League debut. The Dutch manager is having a bright start to life and will hope to lead the Reds to a seventh Champions League title.

Liverpool’s campaign began with a slew of convincing results against Italian opponents. The Reds saw off AC Milan 3-1 and progressed with a 2-0 win over Bologna on Matchday 2. A trip to Germany proved a tough test, but an early goal from Darwin Núñez was enough to secure all three points for the visitors.

Matchday 4 presented another tough test against Bayer Leverkusen, but the Reds took care of business with a 4-0 win, courtesy of a second-half Luis Díaz hat-trick and a Cody Gakpo goal in the 63rd minute.

Liverpool continued their fine form with a 2-0 win against defending champions Real Madrid. Slot’s men finished the year with a 1-0 win on the road against Girona to finish the year as the only team to secure all possible 18 points. They will hope to finish the group stage with a perfect record when they take on Lille and PSV in January.

As expected, the oddsmakers consider the Reds as the favorites to win the Champions League. For beginners in sports betting who fancy their winning chances, you can find important information related to placing sports bets on TrustnBet.

The Gunners are clicking at the right time

Arsenal are playing Champions League football for the second straight year after enduring a drought. Mikel Arteta’s men started off the year slowly but are beginning to gain form at the right time. A boring nil-nil draw against Atalanta to start the season was followed by a 2-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain at home.

The Gunners had to work hard to secure all three points against Shakhtar Donetsk before losing to Inter Milan on Matchday 4. But they bounced back with a statement win against Sporting Lisbon (5-1).

A brace from Bukayo Saka and a late Kai Havertz strike was more than enough to seal the deal against Monaco on Matchday 6, bringing their point total to 13 points and sending them to third on the table.

Arsenal will wrap up their campaign with a game against Dinamo Zagreb before traveling to Girona for the final group game. They are favorites to win both matchups and will hope to build on their momentum as they chase their first European crown.

Barcelona’s lethal offense continues to be the difference

Barcelona’s loss to Monaco on opening day had many second-guessing if they were top contenders. But the Blaugrana have quickly dispelled all doubts and now find themselves second on the table.

Hansi Flick’s men hit the reset button with a 5-0 win against Young Boys, followed by a 4-1 demolition of his former side Bayern Munich on Matchday 3.

La Blaugrana continued their dominant form with a 5-2 win over Serbian league leaders FK Crvena Zvezda. The five-time European Champions earned another convincing win against Brest, handing the Ligue 1 side their first defeat of the campaign (3-0) before putting Dortmund to the sword with a 3-2 win on Matchday 6.

Offensively, Barcelona has been the most deadly team in the Champions League so far, with 21 goals scored. Robert Lewandowski leads the scoring chart with seven goals, while Raphinha, who has been in brilliant form in front of goal across all competitions, is tied at the second spot with six goals.

Up next, Barcelona will travel to Benfica on January 21 before finishing the first round at home against Atalanta. Two tough tests, but the Spanish giants have the firepower to pull off favourable results.

Real Madrid find themselves in an awkward situation

In a surprising turn of events, defending champions Real Madrid find themselves in 20th place on the Champions League table, with just nine points from a possible 18. Los Blancos have been far from their championship best this season. However, despite their struggles, Los Blancos are starting to find their rhythm at a critical time and could go all the way as they have done in previous outings.

A 3-1 win over Stuttgart on Matchday 1 was promising, but a shock loss to Lille raised questions. A dramatic 5-2 comeback win against Dortmund—fueled by goals from Antonio Rüdiger, Vinícius Jr. (hat trick), and Lucas Vázquez—momentarily steadied the ship.

However, back-to-back defeats to AC Milan and Liverpool left Real Madrid teetering on the brink of elimination. Facing Atalanta in Matchday 6, the 15-time Champions League winners dug deep to secure a vital 3-2 win, with goals from Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr., and Jude Bellingham.

Now sitting in a precarious playoff spot with nine points, Real Madrid must win their final two group-stage matches against Red Bull Salzburg and Brest to have a chance at advancing. Even then, they’ll need other results to go their way to make the top eight.

Despite their inconsistency, oddsmakers believe Real Madrid has the pedigree to qualify and make a strong push in the knockout stages.
