They fight until the last moment, being an inspiration to their fans and upcoming footballers. Let’s take a look at some of the best comebacks in Europe’s elite football competition - UEFA Champions League.
5. Real Madrid Vs PSG (2021-22)
The losing semi-finalists of last year’s edition were drawn against each other this year in the Round of 16. Real Madrid are a team known for their phenomenal record in this competition. On the other hand, PSG have struggled to get their hands on the title, despite being one of the best teams on-paper every year. This year too, PSG made some excellent signings in Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma among others.
They even won the home leg 1-0. In the away leg, they started brilliantly by scoring a goal in the 39th minute and taking the aggregate score to 2-0. But, Karim Benzema had other plans. He went on to score a hat-trick, netting in the 61st, 76th and 78th minute of the game, sealing an incredible comeback and shattering PSG’s dreams once again.
4. Chelsea Vs Napoli (2011-12)
Chelsea’s first Champions League title did not come easy. Before the intense fixtures played against Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the semi-finals and finals, they made a miraculous comeback in the Round of 16 against Napoli.
Chelsea lost the first leg in Italy by a score of 3-1. With manager Andre Villas-Boas sacked, the Blues roped in Roberto Di Matteo. He made an incredible turn with the club. They won the game 4-1 (5-4) on aggregate after the match went to extra-time. Branislav Ivanovic gave Chelsea the crucial winner.
3. Barcelona Vs PSG (2016-17)
PSG thumped Barcelona in Paris by scoring four past them and keeping a clean-sheet. A comeback looked almost impossible and Barcelona were certain to miss out on the quarter-finals. But, the Luis Enrique-led side were more than determined to give a fight.

2. Liverpool Vs AC Milan (2004-05)
AC Milan were giants in Europe back then and were looking to secure their seventh European crown. They dominated Liverpool in the first half by scoring three goals. Walking into half-time at 3-0, many people considered the final to be over. But, the night in Istanbul had more to offer.
Liverpool scored their first goal in the 54th minute, with the inspiration coming from none other than their captain Steven Gerrard. There was no stopping the Reds after that. They quickly went on to score two more goals in the 56th and 60th minute of the game, levelling the game to 3-3. The match went into penalties, where the Merseyside club edged Milan with a score of 3-2 and lifted their fifth Champions League crown.
