Uruguay head coach Diego Forlan has named a star-studded 46-member provisional squad for the upcoming FIFA international window.
La Celeste are scheduled to face Japan on September 24, South Korea on September 28 and India on October 6. The extensive list gives new head coach Forlan plenty of options as he assesses his squad ahead of the three international fixtures.
The provisional squad features several high-profile names from some of Europe and South America’s biggest clubs. Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde is among the headline selections, while Liverpool defender Ronald Araujo, Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and Wolverhampton defender Santiago Bueno have also been included. Their experience at the highest level could prove crucial for Uruguay during the international window.
The list also includes Bournemouth forward Alvaro Rodriguez, Galatasaray midfielder Lucas Torreira, Getafe defender Sebastian Boselli and Deportivo La Coruna centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez. Darwin Nunez, who now represents Al-Diriyah, is another major name on the provisional list and provides Uruguay with a proven attacking option.
