The goal tally of the previous week records up to staggering 28 goals.
The league-stage of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20 came to a thrilling end last week. FC Goa emerged as the winners of the league-stage thus booking their place in the AFC Champions League group stage next season. The Gaurs began the week with a thumping 0-5 victory over Jamshedpur FC to achieve their target for the season. Ferran Corominas gave the visitors a lead in the first half as usual. And any chance the Men of Steel had to get back into the game was taken away as the Gaurs hit four goals in the final 20 minutes of the game. A brace from Hugo Boumous and a strike each from Jackichand Singh and Mourtada Fall helped FC Goa become the first Indian club to qualify for the ACL. It was a good day for the new entrants' youngsters with Liston Colaco bagging a brace and Mohammad Yasir scoring too. Skipper Marcelinho too scored a brace to complete the resounding win over the Highlanders. Andy Keogh had pulled one back for the visitors but it was a day to forget for them, especially their hapless defence. In a nerve-wracking decider game at the Mumbai Football Arena, Chennaiyin FC sealed the fourth place edging Mumbai City FC 0-1. Former Islanders defender Lucian Goian scored for his new side in the second half as the Marina Machans completed a solid comeback in the league. A new-look Blues' side had taken a two-goal lead in the first half through Dimas Delgado and Kevaughn Frater. However, the Kolkata-outfit left it late to earn an away point. Edu Garcia and Michael Soosairaj scored in the dying minutes of the game for the visitors. The barrage of goals kept on coming as Odisha FC and Kerala Blasters played out a scintillating 4-4 draw. Super signing Manuel Onwu sealed a superb hat-trick for the hosts that included two brilliant free-kick goals. On the other hand, Blasters' regulars Bartholomew Ogbeche and Raphael Messi Bouli combined to score thrice for the visitors. However, a penalty from Martin Perez Guedes and an own-goal from Narayan Das meant the two sides shared spoils. In-form Martin Chaves had cancelled out Masih Saighani's opener for the Marina Machans. However, Lallianzuala Chhangte's strike in the dying seconds helped Chennaiyin earn a point after Tondonba Singh was sent off. All in all, it has been a super 2019-20 season in the ISL.
