Clifford Miranda’s Chennaiyin FC, looking for their first points of the campaign, started with real intent. Their width was a constant threat, with Farukh Choudhary and Mandar Rao Dessai stretching the Odisha backline. The breakthrough finally arrived in first-half stoppage time. Farukh delivered a pinpoint inswinging corner that was met by a thumping header from Elsinho [45+'], powering home the club's first goal of the season to give the Marina Machans a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Chennaiyin keeper Mohammad Nawaz produced a stunning acrobatic save to preserve the advantage heading into the break. In the second half, the Kalinga Warriors regrouped and responded strongly. Against the run of play, Odisha FC found their equalizer in the 68th minute. Veteran defender Carlos Delgado [68'] rose highest in the box to head the ball home, leveling the contest at 1-1. Both sides created half-chances in the dying minutes in search of a winner—including a late penalty shout from Chennaiyin's Gurkirat Singh that was waved away—but resolute defending ensured they had to settle for a point apiece.
