Defending champions Arsenal will feature in the first league match of the new season.
The 2026-27 season begins on August 21, with a Friday Night Football match at the Emirates Stadium between champions Arsenal and recently promoted Coventry City.
That is one week later than the 25-26 season to allow players to rest after the 2026 World Cup.
The first weekend of the new Premier League campaign is August 21–23. The first game is a Friday night contest between Arsenal and Coventry, which starts at 8 p.m. BST. The campaign lasts ten months, ending on May 30, 2027.

How does the Premier League season run?
20 teams will compete at home and away, for a total of 38 games per club. A win is worth three points, a tie is worth one, and a defeat is worth zero. The team with the most points at the conclusion of the season wins the trophy.
The three worst-performing clubs will be relegated to the Championship. They are replaced by the top two clubs in England’s second division, as well as the winner of the Championship playoffs.
