Marcus Rashford’s comeback to Manchester United has been confirmed after his loan with Barcelona ended, as Barca didn’t exercise the option to sign him permanently.
Marcus Rashford, who scored 14 goals and provided the same number of assists in all competitions last season, won the LaLiga title. His time in Catalonia was brief, though, as the Club decided not to acquire him for £26 million and instead signed Anthony Gordon, an England colleague, from Newcastle.
Consequently, Michael Carrick will welcome Rashford back into the fold when he returns to his childhood club, United, for the preseason.
Marcus Rashford set for Man Utd return
After England’s journey to the World Cup semi-finals, Rashford will be returning from vacation next week and will join United’s training session in the Republic of Ireland, according to Simon Stone of the BBC.
With preseason matches in Finland, Norway, and Sweden, United have been in Scandinavia. The next match is against Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions, and then a Premier League derby match at Croke Park versus Leeds United, which might be too soon for Rashford.
However, he might be able to play in another friendly on Saturday, August 15, at the Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland, against AC Milan. Milan, who are now managed by Ruben Amorim, the former Red Devils head coach.
Amorim’s statement that Marcus Rashford “doesn’t give the maximum every day” caused him to be benched for the Manchester derby in December 2024.
Marcus Rashford later announced he was “ready for a new challenge” and went on loan to Aston Villa before having a great season in Barcelona.
The 28-year-old was outspoken in his desire to stay with Barcelona, but circumstances prevented a long-term transfer. Moreover, Carrick has been keen to integrate the forward into the squad as Rashford will be looking to once again revive his career at the club.
