Ahead of the match, the Red Devils announced that the team would wear their new third kit for their Premier League opening match. The ivory-coloured kit features a look markedly different from United’s iconic red home and blue away kits.
According to the club’s website, the third kit is inspired by Manchester’s “iconic youth institutions” and “features hand-drawn roses and a unique back neck sign-off”.
United debuted this new third kit in their pre-season friendly against AC Milan. Carrick’s side suffered a 4-2 loss in that match, meaning that Manchester United are still seeking their first victory in the third kit.
The last time the Red Devils donned their third kit was during the league opener of the 2016-17 season. Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, and Zlatan Ibrahimović scored to secure a 3-1 victory for United.

The Red Devils are the heavy favourites to beat newly promoted Hull City, although Carrick will be without several first-team players for this fixture.
Benjamin Sesko has not recovered from a shin injury and will not play in the upcoming match. Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt are also doubts due to injury issues, while backup goalkeepers Tom Heaton and Karl Darlow are also unavailable. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte is out for the season due to a cruciate ligament injury.
Both Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos are expected to make their competitive debuts in midfield. Meanwhile, Ayden Heaven is expected to start at centre-back alongside Harry Maguire.
