Andreas Schjelderup found the back of the net in the 36th minute in tonight’s match.
Norway took on England in an exciting FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final clash at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on July 11. The Vikings took a shock lead in the contest in the first half, with Andreas Schjelderup scoring a wonderful goal from distance.
The Three Lions, who were the heavy favourites in the match, started on the front foot, with Orjan Nyland’s goal coming under early pressure. However, it was the Vikings who broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, stunning their opponents.
Patrick Berg dispossessed Harry Kane in England’s half of the field. He found Martin Odegaard, and the Norwegian skipper played it to Schjelderup on the right. The Benfica winger went past Ezri Konsa before firing the ball towards the far corner.
His effort initially looked like a cross into the box aimed at Erling Haaland, but it somehow hit the inside of the post before sneaking into the back of the net. Jordan Pickford was rooted to his spot, and a few fingers would be pointed in his direction for failing to parry the shot away.
It was a wonderful moment for Schjelderup, who was the only change made by Stale Solbakken to the Norwegian starting lineup. The winger replaced Antonio Nusa on the left flank, and his impact was immediate in the quarter-final.

He broke into Benfica’s first team the following season, slowly establishing himself as a key player for the Eagles. He finished last season with a career-best return of 10 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions, while also registering seven assists.
