With the FIFA World Cup 2026 concluded with resounding success in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, interest is already shifting to where soccer’s biggest tournament will go next.
The picture is as clear as it has ever been. FIFA has announced the hosts for the FIFA World Cup 2030.
Here is a complete explanation of where the World Cup is heading, from the centenary celebration in 2030 to the problems that remain.
The World Cup 2030 is going to be held in six countries across three continents, marking the most geographically ambitious event in the competition’s history.
Where will the next FIFA World Cup 2030 take place?
2030 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted across six countries on three continents. Morocco, Portugal, and Spain are the primary host nations. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the tournament, the opening centenary matches will take place in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930, three centenary celebration matches will kick off the tournament in South America. Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will each host one game, with the first taking place in Montevideo’s Estadio Centenario.
Following those three games, the competition travels to Europe and North Africa, with Portugal, Spain and Mexico hosting the rest of the games.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2030, and conclude on July 21.
FIFA World Cup 2030 host cities
FIFA’s preliminary venue list includes approximately 20 stadiums across the three main host nations, though the ultimate choice has yet to be made.
In Spain, the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid and the refurbished Camp Nou in Barcelona are the main sites, followed by grounds in Seville, Bilbao, Gijon, Las Palmas, Murcia, San Sebastian, and Zaragoza, as well as prospective rebuilt venues in Valencia and Vigo.
Portugal’s proposal centres on Lisbon and Porto, whereas Morocco’s proposal is backed by stadiums in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Fes and Agadir.
The three anniversary games in South America will take place in Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Estadio Osvaldo Domínguez Dibb in Asunción, Paraguay; and Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay.
