FIFA World Cup Trophy

The FIFA World Cup 2026 Final will be played on July 20.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to draw its curtains, with the tournament etching itself in the long, storied history of the sport. The newest edition, hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, witnessed a historic expansion, with the total participating nations increasing to 48.

The competition delivered dramatic group stage clashes and thrilling knockout fixtures, producing unprecedented moments that increased the expectations with each passing matchup.

The tournament is currently underway with its semi-final fixtures, with the winners from those encounters set to face off for the coveted title at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 20. To mark the conclusion of the largest sporting event in recent years, FIFA has introduced new events with the aim of bringing new viewers to the game.

Instead of the traditional pre-match closing ceremony, the 2026 edition will see a new half-time show model, directly inspired by the American Super Bowl, packed with entertaining performances by some of the biggest names in the music and film industry.

FIFA has officially confirmed that Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner Jennifer Hudson will perform the United States national anthem. Known for her extraordinary and powerful vocal range as well as widely regarded for her live performances, the Academy Award-winning actress and singer will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” right before the teams take the field.

Hudson’s inclusion will broaden an already incredibly star-studded lineup assembled for the closing ceremony. While Hudson sets the stage with the host nation’s anthem, the final ceremony will feature performances from British pop star Robbie Williams, Italian singer Laura Pausini, American singer and actress Nicole Scherzinger, social media creator IShowSpeed, and legendary Hollywood actor Tom Cruise.
