La Roja are in the final 4 on the world stage for the second time.

The Spain national football team faced off against the Belgium national football team in the quarterfinal contest. This FIFA World Cup 2026 clash took place at the Los Angeles Stadium.

The Luis de la Fuente-led side controlled the tempo of the match from the start. They took the lead first after Fabian Ruiz fired the ball at the back of the net in the 30th minute. It was a big confidence booster and advantage for the Spaniards. This piled up a lot of pressure on the Belgian Red Devils, who were already looking to take control of the game.

Charles De Ketelaere came up with an equaliser for Belgium in the 41st minute. Both teams battled hard in the first half. The saga continued in the second. Neither of the teams were ready to give up till the end. Luis de la Fuente made a fourth change for Spain and brought in Mikel Merino in the 86th minute. Just two minutes later, he stepped up to score the match-winning goal for the Spaniards once again.

As things stand, the Spain national football team will lock horns with Kylian Mbappe’s France in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinal. It is going to be a highly anticipated game to watch. The two European heavyweights will be colliding with their in-form, star-studded lineups.

With Mikel Merino rescuing Spain again in the final moments, it is sure that La Roja need some improvements in the final third. Their finishing wasn’t that good and they cannot miss chances like this against the attack-heavy Les Bleus.
