The Seagulls celebrate their 125th anniversary in style!
Brighton are right now playing Premier League defending champions Arsenal at their home – the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls will look for their third league victory of the season.
But this matchday is more than just a mere league battle. The hosts are celebrating their 125th anniversary. The Seagulls played their very first historic match on 21 September 1901. Today’s match against the Gunners also marks their 125th anniversary since their first match.
Brighton‘s head of marketing Anna Easthope said, “Saturday’s game is one of the highlights of the club’s 125 years celebrations which have been in the planning for many months.
“We have seen events celebrating our history, our family, our home, our city and our story over this 125-year programme, culminating in this Premier League match to mark the anniversary of our first competitive game.
“So many people have been involved in making this matchday special and we hope the fans and players will enjoy their part in it.”
To make the night a special occasion, the club have done their bit. Before kick-off, there was a live musical performance. Two collectables are also available for buying. This includes a print material and another souvenir, which is in an A4 glossy format. Both have history packed inside.
Even the club mascot Gully is dressed in a special 125th anniversary outfit.

That’s not everything. The players are donning a special kit tonight against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. The kit has a classic blue top coupled with creamy shorts. The inspiration is from their original 1901 kit.
Today’s kit will only be worn today, marking their 125th anniversary celebration. Additionally, if the fans take a look at the corner flag, they will find a 125th anniversary crest.

A day when we have good reason not only to look back proudly on our history, but also to appreciate where we stand today, the achievements made, and to look ahead to what comes next.”
