The last time a Bundesliga player won the award was in 1996!

Harry Kane is one of the favourites to win the prestigious award this year, alongside Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal. The 33-year-old had a remarkable season with Bayern Munich and delivered eye-catching performances for the England national team.

The English striker enjoyed a sensational 2025-26 campaign after putting in some unbelievable numbers in terms of goals. He also enjoyed shining domestic success and impressive performances on the international stage.

Harry Kane scored 73 goals for his clubs and country combined. With this, he has a strong case to win the Ballon d’Or 2026. A lot of his fellow teammates and stars from other clubs has backed the English striker to win the honour, but in the end it all depends on who has got the most number of votes.

The last-ever Bundesliga player to clinch the Ballon d’Or was Matthias Sammer of Borussia Dortmund in 1996.
