Kane and Olise faced each other in the FIFA World Cup 2026 third-place playoff game.
Two of Bayern’s most crucial attacking players from the previous campaign, Harry Kane and Michael Olise, did not participate in their pre-season friendly against Aston Villa at Kai Tak Stadium.
The German side have continued their pre-season preparation with impressive wins under Vincent Kompany. However, their pre-season started with a surprise 2-1 defeat against Wiesbaden before thrashing amateur minnows Rottach-Egern 15-0 a few days later.
There are now just two friendlies remaining before Bayern take on Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup on August 22. Several senior players returned from a post-World Cup vacation.
However, the club missed two big names in the game vs Villa. Key stars Kane and Olise have not returned yet. They are still on the break following the World Cup.
Their respective sides faced each other in the World Cup third-place playoff round. England won and finished as the third-best team in the tournament.

Due to extended leave, Harry Kane and Michael Olise were unable to attend Bayern Munich’s pre-season friendly versus Aston Villa. After competing in the World Cup third-place play-off, both players are still on vacation.
Following an exhausting World Cup campaign with England and France, both players were given additional time to recuperate. They will return before the start of the new season.
In order to improve match fitness, manager Vincent Kompany used the remaining players in the team for the match in Hong Kong.
