Why did Matheus Cunha & Senne Lammens miss PSG vs Manchester United pre-season friendly?

These clubs faced each other for the first time since 2020.

The English giants, Manchester United, went head-to-head with the French giants, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), for their fourth club friendly clash ahead of the new season. This clash took place at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Luis Enrique-led side came up with a major boost after many of their World Cup absentees trained and were included in the squad. They were completely outplayed by the Spanish club Mallorca in their first pre-season game. After an underwhelming effort, they were eager to secure a win in their clash against the Red Devils.

Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot are back for Manchester United, but they started on the bench. One of their latest signings, Youri Tielemans, is also included in the squad, but will later come on the field as a substitute. Andrey Santos is yet to impress the fans with his performances for his new club.

Bryan Mbeumo continues to play an important role in the attacking front for the Premier League giants. He scored a sensational brace for his side in the previous matchup against Atletico Madrid.

Why did Matheus Cunha & Senne Lammens miss out?

Matheus Cunha was spotted training with the Manchester United squad, but has not been included to compete against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Senne Lammens is also back from the break and his name was also absent from the playing squad.

Both Cunha and Lammens are out with minor illnesses. Their issue is not major and they might even join the Red Devils on their next adventure ahead of the new season.

Benjamin Sesko is also on his road to recovery from his injury. Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, and Marcus Rashford are yet to return from their FIFA World Cup 2026 break.

Michael Carrick has done a brilliant job as Manchester United’s manager. The English giants are also set to return to the UCL this season and it will be interesting to see them perform on the biggest stage of club football.
