Why did Nico O'Reilly miss Man City vs Coventry City Premier League 2026-27 match?

Coventry City had a trip to the Etihad Stadium for their matchweek 3 fixture of the English Premier League 2026-27 season. They battled it all out against Manchester City in what was an exciting contest between these clubs.

After some crucial departures from the midfield department, the Cityzens have spent have a quite a lot of money to sign top stars during the recent summer transfer window. They signed Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for £125 million who is all set to play alongside Elliot Anderson in the defensive midfield position under Enzo Maresca.

Manchester City have kicked off their Premier League 2026-27 campaign on a positive note with victories against AFC Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively. They will only be pushing for a win moving forward. Under new manager, Man City will be pushing for the league title this season and it will be interesting to see their performances with a bunch of new names in the squad.

Why did Nico O’Reilly miss out against Coventry City?

Despite being named in the starting XI, the English fullback Nico O’Reilly did not play for Manchester City in their Premier League 2026-27 clash against Coventry City. Reportedly, he endured a lower back problem during the warm-up just ahead of the fixture.

New joinee, Enzo Fernandez replaced O’Reilly and made his official debut for Man City in the Premier League.

Another new star who made debut for Manchester City was Iliman Ndiaye who started in place for Phil Foden.

With their current squad quality, the Cityzens have the power to outplay each and every club in the English top division. But it will only be possible after their consistency and right tactics deployed by Enzo Maresca.
