Why did Vinicius Jr miss Racing Santander vs Real Madrid LaLiga 2026-27 clash?

The Brazilian has been handed a four-game suspension.

Last weekend, Real Madrid defeated FC Barcelona 2-1 in the El Clásico. Kylian Mbappe’s second goal of the game in the closing minutes gave Jose Mourinho’s team a victory. It immediately put them back in the running for the championship.

Although Mourinho’s team hasn’t been flawless this season, they have won five games across all competitions since losing the Madrid derby to Atletico Madrid before the international break.

In their quest for this season’s LaLiga crown, Los Blancos, who have won nine of their previous 10 games against Racing, will be fully expecting to secure an additional three points on Sunday.

However, they will be without one of their key player tonight. He continues to serve a suspension.

Why is Vinicius Jr. not playing tonight against Racing Santander?

Vinicius Jr. is absent for Real Madrid for the third straight game. With the Champions League providing a possible lifeline, the Brazilian winger is anticipated to make a comeback to the starting lineup in Athens on Wednesday. He won’t play in LaLiga again, though, until after the next international break.

Vinícius Júnior is not playing tonight. He is serving his third game of a four-game domestic ban after receiving a red card against Villarreal. Real Madrid play Real Racing Club away in LaLiga tonight (Sunday, November 1, 2026).

With Vinicius out, Mourinho will deploy new signing Yan Diomande, who has been in the starting lineup since the Brazilian was sent off. Diomande has been trusted to start the games. He is once again in the starting eleven tonight to face Racing Santander.
