Adrien Rabiot was shown an early yellow card in the France vs Spain match tonight.
France took on Spain in an exciting FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final clash at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 14. Les Bleus suffered an early setback in the fixture when influential central midfielder Adrien Rabiot received a yellow card.
The AC Milan player put his studs on Dani Olmo’s foot on the edge of the box, resulting in La Roja winning a free-kick in a dangerous area. Salvadoran referee Ivan Barton also brandished a yellow card at Rabiot.
The early booking surely puts Rabiot under early pressure, preventing him from playing his naturally aggressive game. It remains to be seen how head coach Didier Deschamps will react to this and whether he will replace Rabiot at half-time.

Is Rabiot suspended for final?

Thankfully for France, the answer is no. Although players receive a one-match suspension if they receive two yellow cards, this tally is wiped clean on two occasions: at the end of the group stage and at the end of the quarter-final stage.
Therefore, Rabiot can have, at most, one yellow card to his name before the final on July 19. If Les Bleus progress to the showdown event, the midfielder will be eligible to play the match.
Meanwhile, the French side went down early in the semi-final clash against La Roja, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring from the spot in the 22nd minute after a foul in the box by Lucas Digne.
Will Adrien Rabiot miss the FIFA World Cup 2026 final?
No. Rabiot’s booking does not rule him out of the final. Yellow card tallies are reset after the group stage and again after the quarter‑finals.
