Will Lamine Yamal be under the spotlight in tonight’s match?

Spain will travel to Stadion Poljud in Split to take on Croatia in a UEFA Nations League 2026-27 Group A3 fixture on Tuesday, October 6. The visitors enter this fixture in superb form. They will look to get another three points under their belts.

La Roja have won all three of their matches so far. They secured a 3-1 home win over Czechia in their last outing. The World Cup winners have scored 10 goals in their last three matches.

Lamine Yamal has been the team’s top scorer during that period. He has registered five goal contributions. He also opened the scoring in the sixth minute against Czechia.

However, the youngster was substituted at half-time against Czechia. With a congested club schedule ahead, Yamal’s involvement in the upcoming clash has come under a question mark.

Will Lamine Yamal play in tonight’s match vs Croatia?

As things stand, there is a good chance that Yamal will keep his place in the starting lineup. However, he will likely be substituted once again at half-time or before the hour mark to manage his workload.

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente was asked about Yamal’s possible involvement in the game during the pre-match press conference. 

“We’ve always fielded the best team for the match we have to play. From the beginning, I mentioned how tough it would be to play so many matches in such a short period. And tomorrow we face a team that’s in perfect condition,” De la Fuente said.

“Nobody will play more than 270 minutes, which would be playing three out of four matches,” he continued. “Lamine has played two out of three. And most of the players will play three out of four. We’re always trying to find the right balance for matches that are very demanding.”

According to UEFA’s statistics, Yamal has played 203 minutes across Spain’s first three Nations League matches. He has averaged 67.67 minutes per game. So far, he has scored four goals and registered one assist in the tournament.
