The winning team will book a slot in the grand finale.
Led by Didier Deschamps, the France national football team are battling it out against the Spain national football team in their semifinal contest at the FIFA World Cup 2026. This high-intensity game is taking place at the AT&T Stadium.
Les Bleus kicked off the clash with their usual attack-heavy push towards the Spanish defence. It surely threatened Luis de la Fuente’s men, but with their calm and composed approach, they were able to shut down the attempts taken by the French attack.
After a slight mistake by Lucas Digne, the Spain national football team were handed a penalty. Mikel Oyarzabal made no mistake and fired the ball at the back of the net from the spot. This piled up a lot of pressure on the Les Bleus. The situation was made worse for France after William Saliba sat down on the ground during the game.

William Saliba’s injury
Just after eight minutes of the opening goal, William Saliba went down on the ground without any contact and the play stopped. It looked like some sort of internal injury to the centre-back. In the 30th minute, Maxence Lacroix was brought in and Saliba was subbed off with an injury. This might also mean that the centre-back’s journey in the FIFA World Cup 2026 is now over.
The French national football team now have to make a comeback here. Against the strong Spanish defence, it is going to be a tough job for them, but with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise, Les Bleus always have a chance to outplay La Roja.
