Playing in a boys’ league, an all-girl squad has become the newest “invincibles” in football after going undefeated the entire season.
With 18 victories, 4 draws, and no losses, Queens Park Ladies under-12s won level three of the Bournemouth Youth Football League. They scored 61 goals and let up just 11 against the 11 boys’ teams in the league, dominating them.
They had accumulated 58 points by the time they had completed all of their matches, 16 more than the second-place squad, who still had two games remaining.
Their victory was made even more delicious by the fact that county FA administrators first objected to them, telling them they would have to compete in a girls’ division.
The players, who practise twice a week, have backed manager Toby Green’s belief that his squad is skilled enough to play boys every week. The girls will advance to the under-13 second division in the upcoming season.

A few weeks ago, they defeated Moordown & Southbourne away from home to win the league, but last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Lymington Town secured the “invincibles” championship.
Speaking to Sky News, Mr Green said: “The girls have done really, really well. They’ve worked so hard all season, not just in the games, but in their training as well.
“They have been really disciplined… they deserve it.”
The 14-member team’s four female members had been playing regularly since they were five years old.
When Mr Green’s daughter Olivia expressed her desire to play football, Dad formed the squad. His older daughter was the sole girl on a boys’ team when he had previously taught her. This time, he chose to form a girls’ team, but he wanted them to compete in the boys’ league.
The group wants to encourage more young females to play football.
