The clubs will face off tomorrow in a London derby.

Around 16 players could miss their London derby due to Tottenham and Chelsea’s combined injury crisis. During the week, both teams participated in the Carabao Cup, but their results were rather different.

To guarantee their spot in the quarterfinals, Enzo Maresca’s Blues defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 on the road. After a disheartening 2-0 loss against Newcastle United, Thomas Frank’s Spurs were eliminated from the competition.

Liam Delap’s unnecessary second booking and subsequent expulsion in the Midlands left Maresca fuming, even though Chelsea advanced to the round of eight and will now play League One team Cardiff City. We take a look at who will be absent from the squad for this weekend’s derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham injury crisis

For the match against Chelsea, former Brentford manager Frank could be missing eleven first-team players. After suffering a calf injury, Archie Gray is the latest player to be placed on the injury list.

Along with Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and Dominic Solanke, the youngster joins a large injury list.

Frank did, however, affirm that Guglielmo Vicario, who missed the Newcastle loss, should start in goal again against Chelsea. At first, it was believed that the Italian’s absence was the result of a tactical rotation.

As a result of suffering a “side strain” recently, Wilson Odobert is also doubtful for the game. Cristian Romero is also a doubt due to fitness concerns.

Chelsea injury setbacks

Chelsea supporters will be relieved that Maresca’s injury list isn’t as long as Tottenham’s. However, Delap‘s needless red card against Wolves in the middle of the week infuriated him.

His options at the back are similarly constrained because both Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile are recuperating from sustained injuries. While Cole Palmer is also ruled out for the next 4 weeks.

Dario Essugo, a midfield sensation, is still listed as injured, and Mykhailo Mudryk is still on a provisional suspension following his mid-June allegation of breaking anti-doping rules by the Football Association.
