Senegal emerged victorious in the AFCON 2025 final.
Senegal won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night after beating Morocco, the hosts, 1-0 in extra time in the Rabat final.After a suspenseful match that ended goalless in regulation time, Pape Gueye scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute given Senegal their second AFCON trophy.
After a late VAR-reviewed penalty handed to Morocco, which was missed by Brahim Diaz following a save by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, the final was characterised by protracted stoppages.
Despite both sides coming close to securing the win, it was a game that mixed plenty of entertaining moments, but eventually, Senegal managed to cruise to a win.The competition came to a thrilling end when Senegal held on to win the title despite late pressure from the hosts. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the complete list of winners and individual award recipients after the championship game.

Morocco won the Fair Play Award for their behaviour and discipline throughout the competition, even though they lost the final at home.
Sadio Mané, who scored two goals and was instrumental in Senegal’s victory, was awarded Player of the Tournament.
With five goals from seven games, Morocco’s Brahim Diaz was the tournament’s top scorer, while goalkeeper Yassine Bounou won Best Goalkeeper after a string of convincing displays.
The AFCON 2025 brought the continental campaign to an unforgettable conclusion in Rabat with moments of drama, controversy, and outstanding performances.
