The Brazilian currently can only feature in the AFC Champions League
According to reports, Al-Hilal plan to cut former Chelsea player Kalidou Koulibaly from their squad list in order to register Neymar for the Saudi Pro League.
Neymar, a Brazil international, is currently dealing with another setback after suffering a string of injuries in the Middle East. Since moving from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023, he has only made seven appearances for the team.
Neymar was sidelined for more than a year due to damage to his knee ligament, and he required treatment that saw him miss his first season at Al Hilal. He soon returned to competitive play, but it was once again dashed by another injury. It is rumoured that he will remain in Al-Hilal’s squad for the rest of the 2024–25 season despite those difficulties and rumours that his contract will be cancelled.
Marca report that seasoned Senegalese defender Koulibaly, who departed Premier League powerhouse Chelsea in June 2023, would be removed from Jorge Jesus’ squad after failing to make an impression during his 18 months in Riyadh, as Neymar is set to be handed one final opportunity to impress.
Neymar also linked with move to MLS side Inter Miami
Although Neymar’s contract has an extension option, it is only scheduled to expire in the summer of 2025. It has been proposed that he may reunite with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at MLS team Inter Miami or go back to his boyhood club, Santos, where it all started for him, despite his problems establishing form and fitness.
Due to a ligament injury that prevented him from playing professional football for a year, Neymar was only able to compete in the Asian Champions League, the only competition for which he was registered.
The forward is still healing from an injury that will only allow him to play again in 2025, despite rumours that he was linked to Santos.
According to earlier reports, Neymar’s ailment was causing him mental distress and he could go back to his country to play for his childhood club.
