Croatia had to settle for a draw because of Klaus Gjasula’s added time equaliser.

On Wednesday at the Volksparkstadion Hamburg, in Group B of the Euro 2024 competition, Albania drew Croatia 2-2 with a goal in stoppage time.

After receiving a wonderful cross from Jasir Asani, Qazim Laci headed in the goal at the near post to give Albania the advantage in the eleventh minute.

Dominik Livaković, the Croatian keeper, kept his team in the match in the 31st minute when Asani struck on goal. Livakovic produced another excellent save in the last moments of the first half, this time stopping Rey Manaj’s header from close range.

At the hour mark, Josip Sutalo’s header narrowly missed the left post, missing Croatia‘s chance to equalise.

Zlatko Dalić’s replacements proved to be effective as Andrej Kamaric was set up inside the box by substitute Ante Budimir, who then touched the ball and sent it into the back of the net.

After two minutes, a shot by Luka Sucic deflected off two defenders and went into the net giving Croatia the lead for good, thanks to an assist from Albanian replacement Klaus Gjasula.

However, five minutes into the final period, Gjasula made amends by giving his team a well-earned point after converting a Mario Mitaj ball into the bottom left corner.

After two games in Group B, both squads are at one point. Croatia will play Italy next while Albania play Spain.
