Isak is soon set to return following a serious injury in December.

After missing four months due to a broken leg, Alexander Isak, a striker for Liverpool, is expected to resume full training this week. Since breaking his fibula and injuring his ankle while scoring in the 2-1 victory over Tottenham in December, Isak has steadily improved.

The 26-year-old, who is scheduled to return in early April, is likely to participate in team training at the AXA later this week.

The Guardian reports that Isak “may be available” for Saturday’s FA Cup quarterfinal matchup with Manchester City.

However, it is considered “more realistic” that the Swede will rejoin the team for next Wednesday’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

Alexander Isak is expected to increase his fitness level and try to come off the bench in every game until the end of the season.

Given Arne Slot’s recent insistence that every precaution will be taken with his No. 9, there will still be questions about a significant role for him between now and the end of the campaign.

Earlier in March, Slot told reporters, “I am just as excited as the fans to have him back because it is fair to say that in 90 percent of our games we’ve had more chances than the other team.

“If we had one of the best strikers in the world playing then that would have usually meant that we would have had more points.

“I don’t want to downgrade it too much because I think he can have an impact when he is back, but it is more realistic to expect [100 percent] from him next season than against Man City or PSG.”

Slot, who had to rely too much on Hugo Ekitike in his absence, would benefit greatly from having Isak to choose from, even from the bench.

The forward can contribute an ample amount of threat in the attack as the Reds hope to finish the season with a trophy and secure a Champions League spot.
