The Swede could return against the Blues.
Alexander Isak may make a comeback for Liverpool’s pivotal Premier League match against Chelsea on Saturday, according to Arne Slot.
Alexander Isak, 26, missed last Sunday’s loss at Manchester United after developing a groin injury during training. Isak has had a challenging first season at the Reds due to injuries. The forward has already missed half of the season due to a serious injury.
Arne Slot provides positive news on Alexander Isak
The Reds’ head coach disclosed in his pre-match news conference that the Sweden international practised with the team on Thursday. He suggested that his player would return when they play the Blues at Anfield this weekend.
“Alex trained with us again yesterday for the first time,” Slot said on Friday afternoon.
“All good. He did parts of it, hopefully he can do parts or everything today and we see how much we are going to use him.”
Before facing Chelsea, Slot discussed Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, and Florian Wirtz in addition to providing an update on Isak.
“Alisson not yet, Giorgi today for first time. Mo is very very close like Ali. Ibou had a personal reason for not training on Wednesday but was yesterday and today and Florian was a bit unwell but trained yesterday as well.”
Liverpool will host Chelsea in an attempt to almost guarantee a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season.
With two games left, Slot’s team would be nine points ahead of sixth-place AFC Bournemouth if they defeat the Blues. The Reds would almost certainly qualify for Europe’s top club competition because of their far better goal differential.
