He mainly played as a left back throughout the last season with Borussia Dortmund, but has been given the responsibility of playing as a center back in this World Cup. One of his biggest tests from this tournament will be against Marko Arnautović. He has already scored a goal in this tournament and is quite tricky to mark as he frequently drops deep to create spaces for his teammates.

One of the key battles to look out for will be between Algeria’s Amine Gouiri and Austrian captain David Alaba. The Algerian striker has scored four goals in his last five appearances. He also found the back of the net against Jordan in a must-win game for his country. David Alaba, on the other hand, had a strong showing against Argentina. He was confident on the ball and helped Austria in dominating possession. He made eight defensive contributions before he was subbed off in the 67th minute.
