List of all Premier League players to win Ballon d'Or
Cristiano Ronaldo was the last Premier League player to win the award.
Nearing its 70th anniversary, the Ballon d’Or has been won by a diverse range of athletes since its inaugural edition in 1956. But when was the last time a Premier League player won the coveted prize?
Cristiano Ronaldo was the last Premier League player to win the Ballon d’Or, but now Manchester City’s Rodri has become the latest player from the Premier League to win the award.
Lionel Messi leads the standings with eight victories, and it has been won by some of the greatest football players who have ever walked the pitch.
Although not all of his victories were with Barcelona, Spanish football has been the site of the Ballon d’Or winner on multiple occasions in the last 15 years.
Following the release of the 30-man shortlist earlier this year, four teams have at least one player up for the title, and ten Premier League players are vying for the honour. Their club and international performances from the previous season earned them nominations.
On Monday, October 28, the event will be held at Paris’s Theatre du Chatelet. The evening will begin at 19:45 GMT and will be streamed live on L’Equipe’s website and YouTube page.

Nearly two months before the event, the shortlists are made public. After that, 100 journalists cast their votes, one of whom is chosen from among the top 100 nations in the FIFA men’s rankings.
From the 30-man selection, they must select their best ten players. Each of the ten players receives 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point. The player with the highest number of points wins the Ballon d’Or.
Three criteria are requested the determine fair play, group performance and record, individual performance, and determination and impressiveness.
