The Hatters are now all set to compete in League One next season.

Luton Town ended their EFL Championship 2024-25 campaign in an unwanted fashion as they fell prey to West Brom on matchday 46 by a scoreline of 5-3. Due to this defeat, the Hatters finished in 22nd place in the English League Championship. They will be demoted to play in the English League One.

Matt Bloomfield-led Luton Town have become just the fourth team in history to suffer back-to-back relegations from the English Premier League. They came up with some lacklustre performances, because of which they will be demoted. Rob Edwards was a major part of the Hatters as he managed the club from November 2022 to January 2025.

4. Swindon Town

The Robins finished in last place in the Premier League 1993-94 season. After contesting in 42 league games, they only won five of them, due to which they were demoted and had to become a part of the EFL Championship for the 1994-45 season.

The Robins ended their English League Championship campaign in the 21st spot, which relegated them further to the English Football Second Division. They became the first team to suffer back-to-back relegations from the Premier League.

3. Wolverhampton Wanderers

The Wolves had a very poor campaign during the 2011-12 season. They finished last in the Premier League, which saw them being demoted. After being a part of 38 league games, the Wolves were only able to secure five wins. This was one of their worst seasons when the top-flight league is considered.

Wolverhampton Wanderers became the second club to face back-to-back relegations from the Premier League. They ended their EFL Championship 2012-13 campaign in 22nd spot.

2. Sunderland

The Premier League 2016-17 season saw Sunderland as one of the clubs who got demoted due to lacklustre performances. After 38 match weeks, Sunderland were only able to win six games and ended in the last spot on the EPL table.

During the 2017-18 season, Sunderland became the third team who got to experience back-to-back relegations from the Premier League. They finished their EFL Championship campaign poorly, as they came last. Sunderland only won seven games during their English League Championship’s 2017-18 season.

1. Luton Town

The Hatters had a rough Premier League 2023-24 season. Luton Town finished 18th in the EPL standings that season and were demoted to the EFL Championship for the next season.

Luton Town had another poor season and ended their campaign in 22nd place on the English League Championship 2024-25 table. They had a chance to avoid the demotion, but their last fixture against West Brom ended on a poor note.

The Hatters are now just the fourth team in history who have faced back to back demotions from the Premier League.
