22 U20 players to feature in the World Cup!

Football’s biggest spectacle, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is set for its grand inauguration. With the tournament less than two weeks from its commencement, the excitement is increasing with every passing countdown.

The newest edition is set to be a historic edition, with the competition to be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada, becoming the first campaign to be hosted by three nations and marking the World Cup’s return to North American soil after 32 years.

Every World Cup has laid the foundation for launching some of the most elite talents in world football. From Brazilian icon Pelé, who became the youngest player to score in the World Cup final at the age of 17, to Mexico’s Gilberto Mora, the youngest player in the 2026 edition, the World Cup has been the ultimate pathway for elite young talents.

With 22 U20 players officially confirmed to participate in the World Cup, the tournament will comprise of thrid-highest concentration of U20 talents. The most notable addition is Mexican youngster Gilberto Mora. At the age of 17, he will be the youngest player to feature in the competition.

The Club Tijuana midfielder had an incredible season, managing 10 G/A in 30 appearances. He is also known for his exceptional passing range, with the youngster having a pass success rate of 85.44%.

Another notable addition was Scotland’s Tyler Fletcher. The Manchester United U21 player received a late, dramatic call-up to the national side to replace midfielder Billy Gilmour, who is set to miss the World Cup after suffering an injury. Tyler only joined the team one week before the call-up as an Under-21 training guest, before surprisingly being named ahead of various senior members.
