Manchester United will play Tottenham in an all-English UEFA Europa League final on May 21. Despite enduring one of the worst seasons in the league, both sides managed to book their spot in the Europa League final.
Now, the hype around the competition is starting to develop. Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies was asked by a famous YouTuber, IShowSpeed, related to the clash.
Speed: “Who do you think is gonna win the Europa League?”
Alphonso Davies: “I think Man Utd are gonna win.”
Speed: “Facts, facts there… Yesssirr!!”
Davies, who is currently sidelined with an ACL injury he suffered during the international break, will return to action next season. The full-back is spending his time recovering from the injury.
The Canadian international seems to be one of the top fans of United, given he has predicted the Red Devils to lift the trophy in Bilbao.
Spurs defeated Norwegians Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate, while Ruben Amorim’s United defeated Athletic Bilbao 7-1 on aggregate in their respective semi-finals to advance to the final.
Tottenham are attempting to end a 41-year drought for European glory, while United are aiming to win the Europa League for the second time in eight years.
Spurs have been involved in half of the major European competitions’ all-English finals, including this one. Additionally, it indicates that six English teams would compete in the UEFA Champions League the next season if either United or Spurs wins the final.
Tottenham, who have already defeated United three times this year, will consider themselves favourites for the match in Bilbao as they aim to capture their first trophy of any type in seventeen years.
Spurs triumphed 4-3 in the League Cup. In the Premier League, they won 3-0 at Old Trafford and 1-0 at home.
When Jose Mourinho was boss, United claimed their last Europa League. It was in the 2016–17 season. In 2021, they succumbed to Villarreal by 11–10 on penalties in the Europa League final. In that outing, David de Gea squandered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team’s penalty kick.
