Jaden and Reigan Heskey, the sons of former England star Emile Heskey, both made their senior debuts for Manchester City during Wednesday’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield Town.
Reigan, 17, and Jaden, 19, became the first brothers to play for City since Kolo and Yaya Touré. This is almost ten years after Emile Heskey’s last first-team appearance for Bolton Wanderers, which saw him cap a career that included stints at Liverpool and Leicester City in addition to 62 England caps.
“Today, six players from the academy made the starting XI,” said Man City coach Pep Guardiola.
“Two more came on, the Heskey brothers. I think their father and mother will be so proud of their kids. That’s really cool.”
Both brothers play for City’s youth team
Reigan and Jaden are both graduates of Manchester City’s academy and frequently play for the team in Premier League 2. They have also participated in UEFA Youth League games together.
According to the City website, Reigan is a “tricky, clinical winger” who is 17 years old. Jaden, the older brother, is regarded as a “mature, hard-working” box-to-box midfielder.
Both frequently play for City’s academy sides, where Jaden frequently dons the captain’s armband during Premier League 2 games. He scored when City defeated Leeds 4-0 to win the FA Youth Cup in 2024.
Jaden replaced fellow academy product Nico O’Reilly to play for 14 minutes against Huddersfield, while Reigan replaced Savinho soon after.
Both brothers have established themselves in the academy and hope to become regular starters for the senior team in the coming years.
They have the potential to become the club’s future stars. Hopefully, Guardiola will give them more opportunities in the near future.
