Argentina FIFA World Cup 2026 squad: Full club-wise breakdown of Lionel Scaloni’s selections

Argentina national football team will be entering the 2026 FIFA World Cup with huge expectations, with the side looking to reclaim the title. The current champions, Argentina, will have their eyes set on a second consecutive title, becoming only the third side to achieve the milestone.
Lionel Scaloni has announced his 26-man squad for the World Cup. Exciting talents like Nico Paz and Valentin Barco, who have impressed in their respective domestic leagues, have earned their first call-up to the national team.
Argentina are drawn into Group J for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Algeria, Austria and Jordan. La Albiceleste will play their first fixture against Algeria, qualifying after finishing first in their CAF qualifier group. Austria finished top of their UEFA group to earn their spot in the World Cup. Jordan, on the other hand, is set to play their first-ever World Cup after navigating through the AFC qualifier groups.
Argentina qualified directly after finishing at the top of the CONEMBOL qualifiers. The side dominated the South American qualifiers, securing their place before the final matchday. Starman Lionel Messi, who is set to play his final tournament, was the top performer, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also had an incredible season, registering 10 clean sheets for the side.
Before the tournament, Argentina are set to face Honduras and Iceland in friendlies. The manager has placed huge emphasis on squad balance, with veterans like Lionel Messi and Nicholas Otamendi called up alongside upcoming talented youngsters.
The called-up players are mainly composed of the Spanish top division LaLiga (7), with Atlético de Madrid being the most represented club in the side (6).
