La Albiceleste will play their opening game against Algeria on June 13.

The Argentina national football team have already unveiled their final list of players for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Stars like Lionel Messi, Nico Paz and Julian Alvarez have been included.

The Lionel Scaloni-led side are going to have a face-off against Honduras and Iceland for their friendlies ahead of the mega competition. These games are going to be important for them as they will be looking to gain some momentum.

Some of the players selected in Argentina’s final lineup are not yet fully fit, but over time, their situation is likely to improve. This might impact some preparations for La Albiceleste in the meantime.

The Argentina national football team are defending their crown. They are placed in Group J along with the likes of Algeria, Austria and Jordan. It is likely to be an easy group stage run for them. Lionel Scaloni is going to be coming in with better and improved tactics.

A total of seven players are still in the recovery stage for the defending World Champions.

The 38-year-old Lionel Messi recently sustained a minor injury and is not going to be a part of the friendly against Honduras. His participation against Iceland is not yet confirmed. Messi will be a part of the opening World Cup game for Argentina, which is going to be against Algeria.

Emiliano Martinez is dealing with a minor fracture at the moment and has been ruled out for both of the upcoming friendly matches for Argentina.

Como’s Nico Paz suffered a knock, which is getting better with time and the playmaker will be available for La Albiceleste’s FIFA World Cup 2026 opener.

Leandro Paredes is dealing with a minor physical discomfort at the moment. Nicolás González has almost recovered from his muscle tear. Nahuel Molina is also close in recovering from his muscle tear.

Gonzalo Montiel recently suffered a muscle tear. His full condition is not yet confirmed. Agustín Giay and Nicolás Capaldo have recently been spotted travelling with the squad.
