Argentina predicted lineup for Canada clash in Copa America 2024 semi-final

Argentina are one of the hot favourites for the Copa America 2024 title after proving their title credentials in the early stages. After finishing the group stage as winners, they were drawn against Ecuador in the quarterfinal. However, things were difficult for them as they survived an early scare after Ecuador were close to netting the winner. They have to thank Emiliano Martinez for his heroics in the penalty shootout which helped them secure their place in the semifinal.
The Canada football team have had an amazing debut campaign. After surpassing every expectation, they have managed to reach the Copa America 2024 semi-finals. Head coach of La Albiceleste, Lionel Scaloni could go with the following starting XI to test the waters against a side driving on full confidence.

He has had an outstanding tournament so far while playing a pivotal role for them in the quarterfinal clash against Ecuador. Timely tackles and interceptions have been a major part of his game.
CB: Lisandro Martinez
Lisandro Martinez has enjoyed an impressive turnaround after missing much of the campaign through injury. He played a crucial role for the team in the last match after scoring the only goal for his side. Martinez has been a rock at the back after making seven recoveries, winning four tackles and making two interceptions. He also doesn’t shy away from putting his body on the line, making two crucial blocks.
LB: Nicolas Tagliafico
Nicolas Tagliafico has been given the nod at the start of the tournament in place of Marcos Acuna. His ability to defend excellently while also chipping in with some important goals and assists makes him a fine choice to start in the left-back role. His experience in high-profile knockout matches can only benefit him and his national team in this match.
CM: Rodrigo De Paul
Rodrigo De Paul brings tenacious industry in the middle of the park. De Paul has also demonstrated his attacking side after attempting four shots at the target. He also has improved his creative side after creating six chances for the team. Besides doing the attacking side effectively, De Paul also helps the defence by shielding the back four. CM: Alexis Mac Allister
Alexis Mac Allister has played the anchor role effectively for Argentina. He has kept things simple and tidy in the middle of the park, effectively controlling the tempo of the game. Mac Allister’s ability to create chances for the team makes him a crucial player for them. The Liverpool midfielder also sets the pace of the game by dictating the play. Enzo Fernandez has become a sought-after midfielder in a short time. He played a pivotal role in Argentina’s route to the 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph. He has continued to deliver on the big stage which is probably why Chelsea made a big money move to secure his services. Fernandez still needs to put in a dominant performance after providing just one assist in the competition.
RW: Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi is arguably one of the best players in the world who has dominated world football for a long time. This tournament has not been particularly impressive for him after failing to net a single goal in the tournament. He has just managed to deliver one assist in the three matches he has played. Hopefully, this can be the match where he nets his first goal of the tournament.
ST: Lautaro Martinez
Lautaro Martinez has led the line impressively for Argentina in this competition. He has netted four goals in the tournament and is one of the hot favourites for the Golden Boot. His importance to the team is undeniable after putting in some incredible performances. Martinez’s clever movements coupled with his clinical finishing have made him a dangerous player for the opposition.
LW: Angel Di Maria
Angel Di Maria is known for big occasions after delivering for Argentina in numerous crucial matches. It was his goal in the final that secured the Copa America title for the team. Di Maria will once again be aiming to play a crucial role to prove his importance in the team after being dropped to the bench in the last game. In this tournament so far, he has just one assist to his name.
