Famous Argentine reporter denies affair claims with Lionel Messi

Sofi Martinez has interviewed Messi many times after several different football matches.

Claims that she had an affair with Lionel Messi have been refuted by an Argentine sports reporter. Journalist Sofi Martinez has described the suffering she and her family have endured as a result of “ridiculous” rumours.

Because of her work with ESPN and TV Publica, Sofi Martinez is a well-known presenter and journalist in Argentina. Among other major athletic events, she reported in the Olympics, Formula One, and the Champions League.

She has also had the chance to interview Lionel Messi several times throughout her stint covering the Argentina national team.

Even though Messi has been married to his childhood sweetheart, 36-year-old Antonela Roccuzzo, for seven years, it’s those purely business interactions that have fuelled rumours of a romance.

Seen sharing “flirtatious glances” between the two, swirling fan speculations began to spread that Martinez and Messi were more than just colleagues.

However, in a Telefe interview on ‘PH: Podemos Hablar’ on the Argentine channel, the reporter denied those allegations.

She stated: “A lot of the time when your exposure increases, it brings things that aren’t so good and my family suffers a lot. This year, people began to talk more and more about, “What’s up with the way he looks at you,” things like this, and I was caught in the middle of something that made me feel ridiculous to have to clarify.”

Martinez continued by implying that her gender is the reason why fans are curious about her encounters with Messi, stating that a male reporter wouldn’t be questioned to confront the Inter Miami star in this way.

The 37-year-old Messi and his wife Antonela have not responded to the rumours. Since their 2017 marriage, the contented couple has had three sons: Thiago, 12, Mateo, 9, and Ciro, 6.

The two had been close friends since they were little children and are thought to have begun dating in 2007.

There have been rumours of an affair with Martinez for years. Daniella Semaan, Cesc Fabregas’s wife and close friend, criticized the 2023 year’s accusations from the Brazilian publication Direto Do Miolo.
