The right-back suffered an injury in the 2-0 win against Aston Villa.

Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s injury has been updated by Arne Slot, who has put doubt on the player’s prospects of playing for England.

During the 22nd minute of Saturday’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Aston Villa, the English full-back was forced off the field due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

The squad did not suffer from the star defender’s absence for the rest of the match. The Reds easily defeated Unai Emery’s side 2-0 with two goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, increasing their advantage over Manchester City to five points at the summit of the league.

Alexander-Arnold’s condition was updated by head coach Slot following the game. Although he acknowledged that the team would evaluate the player to determine the full degree of his injury, he expressed major concerns about his ability to play for England in their next UEFA Nations League games.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, the Dutch coach said, “With Trent, he had to go out. We have to wait and see how he is doing.”

At the press conference, Slot added, “It’s difficult to say how serious it is but it’s always serious if a play goes out in the first half. Not because I didn’t like him (his performance) but because he asked for it himself.

“He didn’t ask for it because he was tired, he asked because he felt something. That’s not a good sign but it’s always difficult so close after the game to tell you exactly what it is. Let’s wait and see. I would be surprised if he plays for the England national team this week but hopefully he can.”

The 26-year-old full-back may not play against Greece on Thursday, but he hopes to feature on November 17 when the Three Lions meet the Republic of Ireland. Liverpool’s next game is away to struggling Southampton on November 24.
