The Reds feared that both star players had picked up major injuries.
After substituting Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate for Liverpool late in Sunday’s Premier League match against Arsenal, Arne Slot has now provided an update on the two star players. Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 victory thanks to a superb free kick from Dominik Szoboszlai in the 83rd minute.
In the 79th minute of the game, Joe Gomez took Konate’s spot in Liverpool’s centre defence, after the Frenchman couldn’t continue in the game.
However, any fears of major injury have been allayed as Ibrahima Konate experienced discomfort and was attended to by Jonathan Power, the club’s director of medicine. Wataru Endo, however, took Florian Wirtz’s position just one minute before the conclusion of regulation time.

Slot later gave a positive report on the players’ fitness after concerns were voiced regarding the two Reds stars’ health. Szoboszlai’s late goal from a booming free-kick gave the champions a crucial victory in a fiercely contested match at Anfield.
Speaking on Wirtz’s substitution, the Dutchman said: “I don’t think he knew he could have cramp in so many different places, that’s what happened. Welcome to the Premier League, welcome to playing against this intensity.”
Slot then provided an update on Konate, adding: “He thinks it’s cramp, and I have no reason to doubt him. Although sometimes players talk about cramp and then we have a scan and it’s more than that. Jeremie Frimpong was not too happy, like some pundits and journalists, when I took him out against Bournemouth, because he thought he only had cramp or felt [his hamstring] a bit. He’s already out for two or three weeks now, so let’s wait and see.”
When Liverpool plays Burnley in the Premier League on September 14, following the international break, they plan to have both Wirtz and Konate fully recovered.
Did Konate and Wirtz suffer major injuries?
They suffered cramps during the game, as per Slot.
How many games have Liverpool won this season so far?
They have won all the three games this season in the league.
Will Konate and Wirtz have been ruled out for a long period?
No, they should hopefully be back after the international break, as per Slot.
